Hosting / Managed Backup Service

Every precaution is taken to minimise the risk of data loss on our servers, but should the worst happen it's reassuring to know that your web site is backed up regularly.

We have implemented a Storage Area Network (SAN) for quick, easy and secure backing up of data over our network.

Virtual hosting customers will have their files automatically backed up to the SAN every day, with copies of the archives taken off site at least once each week.

Dedicated server and colocation customers can also use our backup facilities to keep a copy of essential system files, and we can provide a suitable backup script to interface with our system. The script creates and efficient back up file - rather than duplicating the entire filesystem, only files that do not form part of the operating system are backed up. This usually results in a backup file small enough to download yourself for extra security, particularly if you have a broadband Internet connection.

We also offer a managed backup service should you want us to make off site backups on your behalf, for just £20 per month for each 100Mb of data, after compression. Backups can also be mailed to you on CD if you wish at £5 for each disc.
